Open Carry in California

James has a new version of his blog, which unfortunately wiped out his archives.

He had recently written about how California is sort-of an open carry state. It is legal to open carry, as long as your handgun is unloaded.

The full article is at the San Diego Reader.

Actually you can legally open carry your handgun fully loaded in much or most of California. The general legal rule is as follows: Openly carried guns in incorporated areas of California (as well as portions of unincorporated areas where the County and only the County has made shooting unlawful)must remain unloaded (magazine on belt holster is OK).
